Congratulations to Mark Songhurst from Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust on winning the Future-Focused Finance award at the HFMA Annual Conference 2018, yesterday.

In 2018, Mark has travelled the length and breadth of the country spreading the word and work of FFF, including speaking at the East of England Value Maker event and our 2nd Value Maker Annual Conference in London. He has also helped grow the number of Value Makers in the Yorkshire and Humber region hugely from under 30 to 102 since the beginning of the year. This number was reflected when his regional event in October, had over 50 delegates in attendance. And to round of his year as a super Value Maker and Future-Focused Finance advocate, he also signed up to become a FACE (Finance and Clinical Educator) at his regional event!

‘Mark has been a key Value Maker since we asked for interested volunteers in the early days of FFF. He has played a huge part in the success of the network, both locally, in Leeds and Yorkshire, and across the whole country. We know that if we need someone to step in and cover when the team cannot be at an event, Mark will do all that he can to help out. The work he has been doing with Simon Worthington at Leeds Teaching Hospital, encouraging all finance staff to see themselves as value makers through their day-to-day work has been truly inspirational. We are delighted to give him the FFF Award for 2018 in recognition of all that he has done for FFF and NHS finance in its entirety.’ – David Ellcock, Programme Director, Future-Focused Finance

As David Ellcock said back in September at our Value Maker Annual Conference, ‘The Value Maker network is the heartbeat of FFF.’ Without the likes of Mark and our almost 500 strong Value Maker network, Future-Focused Finance wouldn’t be able to carry out the work that we do and for that, we cannot thank you enough.
