We hope you had an enjoyable break over the holiday season and are well rested and ready to take on 2019.
2018 was a very busy year for FFF. We expanded the central team by two, established our new five-year strategy and delivered the largest number of events we ever have. You can find our 2018 round up in numbers in our December newsletter, here.
We have much more planned for 2019. Here are some of our priorities and focus for the next 12 months:
Our work programme focuses on removing the disparity between band grades across the whole of the finance function for all groups. In order to achieve this, we are supporting NHS Improvement’s Going Beyond Programme, which is currently being piloted in London, and will then be rolled out as a national initiative. It involves taking staff at 8b and above into the programme which will include a range of measures, support and interventions to ensure that the diversity of the pool of candidates putting themselves forward for consideration for senior roles is improved over time. We are also developing a bank of positive role models for our website, delivering a series of events & workshops, and setting up active networks for all protected groups. There is much more planned for the following months, so keep an eye out for our newsletter for updates and details of how to get involved.
Our aim is to get every single NHS organisation to at least Level 1 of our accreditation. 32 organisations were accredited in 2018 and we want to beat that target this year. - Senior Talent Management Programmes
We have designed a brand-new development programme to help participants develop their skills towards working at director level over the next 3-5 years. This year we will be delivering a series of four-day development days in each of the regions, including two over-night residentials and networking dinners. - NHS 10-year plan.
As we wait for the publication of the new NHS 10-year plan, we are working with PwC on a report that focuses on what the future of the NHS finance function will look like. The report’s recommendations, along with the requirements of the 10-year plan will provide the backdrop to our work for the next 2 to 3 years.
As always, we will have a huge focus on growing our Networks even further. We were thrilled to welcome our 500th Value Maker in December, so we have an even bigger challenge to top that this year, across all the Networks.
