Developing high level process designs to enable finance departments to decrease the amount of time spent on transactional processes.
The aim of the action area is to develop high level process designs to enable finance departments to decrease the amount of time and effort spent on transactions. This will mean that either the overall cost of the finance function will decrease, or that more resources can be devoted to activities that add value, such as business partnering. This will allow finance to lead the improvement in the value of patient services.
Working with Ernst & Young we have developed a systems maturity toolkit that will allow you to benchmark your organisation’s financial systems.
We have produced two process maps that you can use to ensure that your systems follow best practice when developing your Procure-to-Pay and Hire-to-Retire processes.
We are working with a number of interested parties to explore the possibility of establishing a ‘clearing house’ for NHS financial transactions in an attempt to reduce the amount of finance-related paperwork that moves around the NHS.
