Disability Focus Group

We are hosting an online facilitated focus group to help us understand the challenges and issues facing NHS Finance staff who identify as disabled better. As part of its national diversity and inclusion work programme, FFF are looking into further ways to support staff from all under-represented groups.

The aim of the workshop is to:

  • Share and promote good practice
  • Develop clearer understanding of the current challenges and potential barriers faced by the finance community who identify as disabled
  • Understand more about how FFF can support disabled staff
  • Explore and identify areas for an action plan for FFF
  • To promote and develop networks between participants

The workshop will be facilitated by Sally Baines an Executive Coach and OD/HR specialist.

Delegates will also have the oppportunity to hear an update from Hayley Ringrose, who up until recently worked as Chief Financial Analyst at Stockport NHS FT, but is now pursuing a career as a motivational speaker. Hayley sits on FFF's diversity delivery group and has spoken at previous D&I focused conferences. Hayley will share her personal experiences of working in NHS Finance whilst living with Cerebral Palsy and how she has overcome adversity whilst progressing her career.

We would like to encourage participation from any individual who identifies as having a disability, or long term health conditions that impact on everyday activities. To get a wide range of opinion and experiences, we are interested in hearing from colleagues with both visible and hidden disabilities and long term health conditions, including those who identify as being neurodiverse (this could include, for e.g. dyslexia, dyspraxia, asthma, diabetes, and colleagues on the autism spectrum). We are aware that an online session may present each participant with unique challenges, and under normal circumstances we would have preferred to meet in person, but we are committed to making the event as inclusive as possible. It would be really helpful to know whether there are any particular adaptations or other support you require for the session. If you'd like to discuss this further, feel free to give Grace a ring on: 07850507387 or email Hayley Ringrose at hayleyringrose@googlemail.com

The workshop will be limited to a maximum of 12 so that participants feel comfortable to share their experiences in an open and frank way.

If you identify yourself as disabled and would like to take part then please email futurefocusedfinance@nhs.net to register your interest.

Bookings will be taken on a first-come-first-serve basis.

We will be runnnig the event on Zoom. Please note that these timings are just an approx. currently and will be firmed up closer to the time.
